Birmingham police are investigating a triple homicide Saturday.
Police said officers were called to the 1700 block of Indian Summer Drive on a report of a car crash.
That's in the Echo Highlands neighborhood of Birmingham.
When officers arrived, they found a man, woman, and a young boy, dead inside a vehicle from apparent gunshot wounds.
On Sunday, police identified the victims as five-year-old Landyn Brooks, 28-year-old Arkia Berry, and 28-year-old Eric Ashley, Jr. The man was from Hoover and the woman and boy were from Center Point.
The Jefferson County coroner released the correct spelling of his Landyn Brooks' name Monday, which was different than what was first reported by police.
Police say that Brooks was Berry's son and that Ashley may have been her boyfriend. No one is in custody at this time.
The police department also said it appeared the driver moved the vehicle a short distance after the shooting, until it crashed into a yard at that location.
Police believe this was a targeted shooting but did not want to speculate on a motive.
There is no word about a suspect, and police are asking any residents in the area with security cameras that may have recorded the incident to contact the police department.
