The University of Alabama athletic director spoke for the first time Wednesday after he fired baseball coach Brad Bohannon over an alleged betting scandal.The report was of suspicious bets involving his team, with the school saying he violated 鈥渢he standards, duties and responsibilities expected of university employees.鈥漈he latest: Sports coverage from 米兰体育 13 NewsThe firing came days after a report warning of suspicious wagers prompted Ohio鈥檚 top gambling regulator to bar licensed sportsbooks in the state from accepting bets on Alabama baseball games."We don't have any information that shows student-athletes are involved," Alabama Athletics Director Greg Byrne said. "We have full expectation that we can be part of the postseason. When we knew there was a challenge, we dealt with it immediately."Within the past few days, both Iowa and Iowa State announced investigations into gambling. At least 26 student-athletes in five sports are suspected of betting on sports.More than 100 people have been linked to the investigation at this time. It is unclear if anyone from Alabama is included in this number.
