While he said he's been shooting for about 10 years, it wasn't until age 16 that he locked in on his goal of becoming an Olympian.
"That's kind of when I started getting serious, and it's been a long ways to get here, but I'm definitely proud of myself for making it and everybody else around me for making it here as well," Kissell said.
Alexis Lagan, a Tokyo 2020 Olympian, is another Paris 2024 hopeful competing this weekend.
While she enjoyed shooting for fun growing up, she said it wasn't until college that she discovered her passion for air pistol.

"I didn't know that Olympic pistol shooting was a sport until I was in college," Lagan said. "Once I found it, I really got excited about it."
Lagan said she tried out for the 2016 Rio Olympics and just barely missed it, fueling the fire for her to go to Tokyo, becoming the first Olympian from her hometown of Boulder City, Nevada.
"This time I am an Olympian, so there's a little bit of that confidence of like, 'I've done this before, I know what I'm doing this time,' but there's also a little bit of pressure of like, 'Oh man, I want to be an Olympian again,'" Lagan said.
This weekend's trials are free and open to the public.
