SO IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS, AS YOU KNOW, THE UNIVERSITY ASKED YOU NOT TO DO THAT. SO THE TREES, THE NEW OAKS HAD TIME TO BECOME ESTABLISHED. Toomer's Corner is ready to roll in 2023. For the first time in several years, Auburn announced that two large oaks are available to roll again. The trees were planted six years ago, and now the university believes they are established enough to have the tradition return. The original Auburn Oaks were planted between 1937 and 1939. "The rolling of Toomer鈥檚 Corner is one of the nation鈥檚 top sports traditions,鈥� Auburn President Christopher B. Roberts said. The trees were removed in 2013 after being poisoned in 2010. 鈥淲e knew from the beginning it was a huge request to ask our fans to not roll the two new Auburn Oaks at Toomer鈥檚 Corner,鈥� said Justin Sutton, director of Facilities Management Landscape Services. 鈥淲e knew this short-term request would reap long-term benefits in upholding one of the best collegiate athletic traditions of rolling Toomer鈥檚 Corner. The long-term establishment, overall health and projected long life of these trees was our goal from the beginning.
