Cannabis consumption lounges open in central Alabama
Cannabis consumption lounges are starting to pop up all across central Alabama. They allow residents a new way to use a wide range of cannabis products. Avondale Apothecary is a mix between a CBD store and a bar. But at this bar, they serve all kinds of cannabis products, from drinks to gummies to dabs.
Even on a Monday, this cannabis consumption lounge has a steady stream of customers. Avondale Apothecary's owner said there is no typical cannabis consumer.
Ben Richards said, 鈥淲e get everybody from 21 to 85, 90 years old. So, it's a lot of people looking for pain relief, whether it's some of our CBD bombs or using cannabis as their true medicine to get off pharmaceuticals or just trying to have a good time and not and not be alcohol driven.鈥
The cannabis lounge is an alternative to a traditional bar that serves alcohol. Customers say it鈥檚 all the enjoyment without the hangover.
Boone Robbins said, 鈥淚 think this is a huge difference in drinking and stuff. And I think it's nothing wrong with it at all. I prefer this over drinking any day.鈥
They offer cannabis gummies, vapes, buds you can grind and roll and resins you consume with a water pipe.
Budtender William Brown said there's one question he answers every day.
He said, 鈥淚s this real weed? Yes, it is. Explain to them how it is legal under the Alabama Farm Bill.鈥
Richards added, 鈥淓verything that we sell comes in a package, with compliance on the back. So, this can be scanned. It tells you that it is Senate farm bill compliant.鈥
There are several different lounge rooms here, and at the back is a music venue and outdoor bar. No alcohol is served or allowed here, but there are more than a dozen different cannabis drinks, some on tap.
