Changes coming to Alabama gameday security for Donald Trump's visit
Gameday will look a little different this weekend as Tuscaloosa officials work with the Secret Service to ensure Donald Trump's safety during Saturday's game.
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said the security changes are to keep everyone in the stadium safe, not just the former president.
"It's important to us that the president remain safe," Maddox said. "It's also as important to us that the 100-plus thousand people inside the stadium and the 20,000-plus people outside the stadium are also safe."
Fans will be assigned to a specific security gate, depending on their ticket gate. Previously, you could go through any security checkpoint around the perimeter of the stadium.
Maddox and University of Alabama Athletics are also encouraging fans to arrive by 5 p.m. at the latest because certain areas of the stadium will be closed or blocked temporarily as "special guests" arrive.
"It will be a little bit more difficult to get into the game, and like I mentioned, it should be," Maddox said. "If people will do this simple thing: be early. Be early in your travel plans. Be early in arriving at the game. If you do those two things, you should get to the game on time and not miss one moment of the action."
The list of is the same as any other gameday. You may be asked to remove your jewelry or gameday pins as you go through security.
