Christmas mystery to miracle: Louisville family reunited with lost gifts
The holiday spirit is alive and well in Louisville, Kentucky, as one woman's determination turned a Christmas mystery into a Christmas miracle.
It鈥檚 the kind of story that restores your faith in humanity.
鈥淭here鈥檚 still honest people out there,鈥 said Jason Brown.
Recently, Brown and Debra Holcomb were driving when, unbeknownst to them, Christmas gifts for their grandkids fell out of their truck.
鈥淲e were taking stuff to storage, and I鈥檓 assuming they rolled out the back of the truck,鈥 said Brown.
They thought it was a holiday disaster, but fate had other plans.
鈥淚鈥檓 so happy I found y'all,鈥 said Krystal Murphy.
Later, Murphy was driving on the same highway when she spotted the bag full of presents. That鈥檚 when her quest to reunite those presents with their rightful owners started.
Determined to find the owner, she put a post on social media and also did an interview with sister station WLKY.
鈥淚 just made a post and next thing you know, I鈥檓 on the news,鈥 said Murphy.
After the story aired on WLKY, the family recognized the gifts.
鈥淚 looked on the phone and saw it on the news with the names on it, and I was like, those are our grandkids,鈥 said Debra Holcomb.
They connected with Murphy and confirmed the gifts were theirs by describing each wrapped item, a journey that brought this family鈥檚 Christmas back from the brink.
鈥淲e thought the grandkids weren鈥檛 going to have a Christmas,鈥 said Brown.
For Murphy and this family, it鈥檚 more than just a reunion. It was a reminder of what the holiday season is all about.
鈥淏efore I even started anything, I said I can鈥檛 figure out if it鈥檚 a lesson or a blessing, and I truly feel like it鈥檚 a blessing,鈥 said Murphy.
Holcomb says she's glad they got into Murphy's hands.
鈥淲e鈥檙e just blessed that somebody like this lady right here found our stuff and is willing to give it back to us for our grandkids,鈥 said Holcomb.
A lesson, a blessing, and a Christmas to remember.
