YEAH, IT HAS BRITTANY. YOU KNOW, TODAY IS ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHERE WE WILL NEVER FORGET WHERE WE WERE WHEN WE GOT THAT NOTIFICATION ABOUT NICK SABAN鈥橲 RETIREMENT. AND FOR TUSCALOOSA MAYOR WALT MADDOX, HE WAS IN AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MEETING. AND HE KNOWS ALL TOO WELL HOW THE SABAN鈥橲 HAVE BENEFITED FINANCIALLY, BENEFITED THE CITY OF TUSCALOOSA COACH HAS BEEN SUCH PART OF THE FABRIC OF THIS COMMUNITY. THE STATE. IT鈥橲 A FABRIC THAT CAN鈥橳 BE LABELED WITH A PRICE TAG, BUT IT CERTAINLY HAS A NAME WE CAN鈥橳 NECESSARILY QUANTIFY IT, BUT WE DO CALL IT SABAN OMICS TUSCALOOSA MAYOR WALT MADDOX SAYS THE SUCCESS OF BOB WITT AND NICK SABAN TOGETHER HELPED BUILD THE CITY OF TUSCALOOSA TO WHAT IT IS TODAY. THERE IS NO DOUBT THERE ARE THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS THAT ARE ENROLLED ON THIS CAMPUS THAT ARE CREATING JOBS THAT HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN TUSCALOOSA鈥橲 ECONOMY, BECAUSE NICK SABAN WAS THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT THE UNIVERSITY AND BECAUSE THEY WERE WINNING AT A HIGH LEVEL, HE SAYS COACH SABAN SET UP AN OPPORTUNITY FOR TUSCALOOSA TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF. YOU LOOK AT NUMBER ONE, JUST THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO COME INTO A GAME DAY. UM, AND THE STADIUM EXPANSIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS DURING THAT TIME. YOU LOOK AT JUST THAT. HOW MANY TIMES IS TUSCALOOSA TALKED ABOUT EVERY SINGLE DAY, ESPECIALLY DURING THE FALL, BECAUSE WE ARE SUCCESSFUL, THE TEAM鈥橲 SUCCESS OFF THE GRIDIRON MADE AN EVEN BIGGER IMPACT WHEN SABAN AND HIS PLAYERS HELPED FAMILIES REBUILD AFTER THE DEADLY 2011 TORNADO. WE HAVE TO BE SUPPORTIVE OF THE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORTED US. IT鈥橲 HARD TO EXPLAIN TO PEOPLE WHO DO NOT LIVE IN TUSCALOOSA, BUT WHAT THEY MEANT. THE AMBASSADORS, THEY鈥橵E BEEN FOR THE UNIVERSITY, FOR THE CITY, FOR OUR STATE, EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE. I COULDN鈥橳 BE ANY HAPPIER FOR THEM, SAD FOR US, BUT HAPPY FOR THEM. AND THEY BUILT A BETTER, UH, FOOTBALL PROGRAM. UNIVERSITY CITY, A CITY. MADDOX SAYS THEY WILL HAVE TO KEEP BUILDING ON. SINCE THE SABAN鈥橲 LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR WHAT COMES NEXT, WE鈥橰E GOING TO BE READY FOR. AND BECAUSE OF THEM, WE鈥橰E STILL GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL. NOW, AS YOU HEARD THERE, MAYOR MADDOX, CERTAINLY SAD ABOUT NICK SABAN RETIRING, BUT HE SAYS BECAUSE OF COACH SABAN AND MISS TERRY, THE CITY OF TUSCALOOSA AND THE STATE OF ALABAMA ARE BETTER BECAUSE OF THE BOTH OF THEM.
