This lovely Staffordshire puppy named Ivor is so cute, you’d think anyone would love to have him as part of the family. But sadly this wasn’t the case �� the little pup was abandoned five times before he was even 1 year old. Why? Because Ivor is deaf.His disability initially led to him being given up by his potential owners. But thanks to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the U.K., known as the RSPCA, Ivor has learned to overcome his difficulties and has now found his forever home. Dog lover, Ellie Bromilow, adopted Ivor in December and has been teaching her furry friend new commands through sign language.Ivor even has his own Facebook page �� Ivor the Deaf Dog's Fun Page �� where it states: "Despite my deafness you will find I have bags of cheeky personality and I am one smart dog! While other doggies might miss things my eyeballs are trained to observe everything, even as I sleep I peep, I see all, feel vibrations of doors and footsteps and can sniff a piece of chopped ham almost a mile away! In fact Ellie thinks I could have had a cracking career as a sniffer dog!"Though the RSPCA taught Ivor the basics, Ellie extended his sign language ability. “He’d already learned the sign command for ‘sit�� and ‘come�� from the staff at the RSPCA center, but now he knows lots more, like ‘lie down,�� ‘stay,�� ‘all gone,�� and he’s learning ‘roll over,’�� she told Metro.“Having a deaf dog is just like having a hearing dog. We still speak to him as we sign, and I chat to him a lot �� even though he can’t hear a word.�� Though Ivor lacks hearing, his other senses are sharp, in particular his sense of smell. Ellie makes the most of this in games she creates for the pup, where she hides treats around the house for him to find.
