The former finance director of the city of Homewood has been sentenced to prison.According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Birmingham, a federal judge Wednesday sentenced Robert Burgett, 64, of Hueytown, to 37 months in prison.The sentence comes after Burgett pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud in October 2024.According to information in the plea agreement, Burgett used his position as finance director to embezzle almost $950,000 from city bank accounts between 2023 and 2024.Court information showed Burgett was released on bond and is to report to prison by June 25, 2025 to begin his sentence.Deep dive: 米兰体育 13 Investigates

The former finance director of the city of Homewood has been sentenced to prison.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Birmingham, a federal judge Wednesday sentenced Robert Burgett, 64, of Hueytown, to 37 months in prison.
