Victim identified in homicide at Birmingham UPS Customer Center
Birmingham Police says they are investigating a "targeted" homicide happening at a UPS facility at 4601 Inglenook Lane.
Police say that around 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a person shot call, and after arriving, they found 44-year-old Anthony Lamar Love Jr. of Alabaster suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services pronounced Love dead after arriving at the scene.
Police say the preliminary investigation indicates that Love, a UPS employee, had just ended his shift and was shot & killed while walking to his car by an unknown suspect who left the scene.
Police believe that Love was targeted, and there is currently no one in custody in connection to his death.
A UPS spokesperson released this statement: "We are saddened by the loss of our driver and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and coworkers. We are cooperating with the authorities as they continue investigating this tragic incident."
