IT HAPPENED JUST AFTER 6:00 TONIGHT AT A UPS FACILITY ON INGLENOOK LANE. 米兰体育 13 S AARON LEWELLEN LIVE AND LOCAL, OUTSIDE THE FACILITY, AN EMOTIONAL SCENE TODAY. AARON. YEAH, GUYS. SHERRY. THE MAN WHO WAS WHO LOST HIS LIFE AT THIS FACILITY. BEHIND ME WAS AN EMPLOYEE HERE. AND HE WAS JUST GETTING OFF WORK WHEN HE WAS SHOT BY A SUSPECT. NOW HIS FAMILY CAME TO THE SCENE HERE TRYING TO CONSOLE EACH OTHER. ONCE THEY GOT THAT NEWS SAYING THAT THEY WOULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT TIME TOGETHER, A RAINY TUESDAY EVENING IN BIRMINGHAM TURNING DEADLY. EAST PRECINCT OFFICERS WERE RESPONDING TO A CALL OF A PERSON SHOT. IT HAPPENED JUST AFTER SIX AT THE UPS FACILITY ON INGLENOOK LANE, JUST BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT. WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED ON THE SCENE, THEY OBSERVED AN ADULT MALE LYING UNRESPONSIVE ON THE GROUND SUFFERING FROM AN APPARENT GUNSHOT WOUND. BIRMINGHAM POLICE SERGEANT LAQUITA WADE CONFIRM NAMING. A MAN DIED AT THE SCENE. THE PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION SUGGESTS THAT THE VICTIM, WHO IS AN EMPLOYEE AT UPS, HAD JUST ENDED HIS SHIFT AND WAS WALKING TO HIS VEHICLE WHEN HE WAS CONFRONTED BY THE SUSPECT IN. WADE, SAYS THAT鈥橲 WHEN SHOTS WERE FIRED. I BELIEVE THAT APPROXIMATELY THERE WAS NO SHOTSPOTTER INDICATION. UM, I BELIEVE APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 12 SHOTS. DETAILS OF WHAT LED UP TO THE SHOOTING ARE LIMITED AS BPD CONTINUES TO INVESTIGATE, BUT OFFICERS SAY THEY鈥橰E WORKING TO FIGURE OUT IF THE SHOOTER IS A UPS EMPLOYEE. AS WELL. THIS WAS A TARGETED ATTACK. THERE鈥橲 NO INDICATION THAT THIS IS A WORKPLACE SHOOTING AT THIS TIME. THE SCENE BRINGING UP PAINFUL MEMORIES FOR SOME, REMINDING MANY OF THE MURDER SUICIDE THAT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER 2014 AT THE SAME FACILITY, A UPS EMPLOYEE WHO WAS LET GO OPENED FIRE ON TWO MANAGERS, KILLING THEM AND HIMSELF. IT鈥橲 DEVASTATING FOR THE CITY WHOLE AS A WHOLE. UM, DEFINITELY FOR HIS FAMILY AND DEFINITELY FOR THE EMPLOYEES. UM, SOME EMPLOYEES ARE VERY SHAKEN UP ABOUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE. Birmingham Police says they are investigating a "targeted" homicide happening at a UPS facility at 4601 Inglenook Lane. Police say that around 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a person shot call, and after arriving, they found 44-year-old Anthony Lamar Love Jr. of Alabaster suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services pronounced Love dead after arriving at the scene.Police say the preliminary investigation indicates that Love, a UPS employee, had just ended his shift and was shot & killed while walking to his car by an unknown suspect who left the scene.Police believe that Love was targeted, and there is currently no one in custody in connection to his death. A UPS spokesperson released this statement: "We are saddened by the loss of our driver and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and coworkers.
