Netflix announced this week that its political drama 鈥淗ouse of Cards鈥� will end with its sixth season, Variety reports.Some speculated that the decision to end the series could be in correlation with a recent article published that accuses the show鈥檚 lead actor, Kevin Spacey, of sexually harassed a 14-year-old in 1986. According to TV Line, however, the decision to end the series was made months ago. Spacey said he did not remember the encounter and said, "But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are other stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy," he continued. He also acknowledged for the first time publicly that "I now choose to live as a gay man."Anthony Rapp said he was just 14 at the time Spacey attempted to 鈥渟educe him,鈥� he told Buzzfeed.Through his publicist Rapp issued a statement on why he chose to come forward, 鈥淚 came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out, to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me. Everything I wanted to say about my experience is in that article, and I have no further comment about it at this time."Production for the sixth season has reportedly begun and is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2018.
