"I was living a mother's worst nightmare happening right in front of my eyes."

A month after her daughter Maddie's terrifying accident, Jamie Lynn Spears is opening up about those scary days. In an Instagram post celebrating the baptism of Maddie's cousin Kylie, Spears wrote, "A month ago at this time, I was living a mothers/anyones worst nightmare happening right in front of my eyes, helplessly..." (before offering a feel-good "Fast Forward" update on Maddie's condition). Spears's 8-year-old daughter, Maddie Aldridge, was unconscious for two days after an ATV accident at a family home in Kentwood, Louisiana, according to a statement the family gave to People on February 7. Maddie had been driving an ATV and, after swerving to avoid a drainage ditch, the vehicle overturned into a pond, trapping her underwater for over two minutes. "Paramedics resuscitated her and she was airlifted to a local hospital," the statement continued. Following treatment there, Maddie has been in recovery and her condition continues to improve, as Jamie Lynn explained in her caption (as she has in other recent Instagram updates). "Today, we were able to celebrate the baptism of our sweet Kylie Blair," she wrote. "I'm not one to preach, but we were shown God's grace, and we still feel undeserving of His mercy."
