Judge issues temporary restraining order against Old Man Winter
A Minnesota judge has had enough of the snow, so much so that he鈥檚 granted a tongue-in-cheek restraining order against Old Man Winter.In the four-page ruling, Hennepin County District Court Judge Kevin S. Burke outlined the disdain of Minnesota citizens for the defendants, which include meteorologists, Mr. Snow and Old Man Winter, the Star Tribune reported.鈥淭his order tests the limits of judicial authority,鈥� Burke wrote in the ruling. 鈥淏ut it is not a reflexive or petulant act by a frustrated judge. That would be entirely inappropriate.鈥淭his order is issued because of Article I Section 8 of the Minnesota Constitution, (which) states in relevant part, 鈥楨very person is entitled to a certain remedy in the laws for all injuries or wrongs which he may receive.鈥欌滱 winter storm is expected to hit Minnesota this weekend. With spring less than two weeks away, the restraining order is more wishful thinking than anything.鈥淪imply put, notice of the request for a temporary restraining order would likely result in yet another blizzard, more frigid cold weather and enhanced ice dams throughout Minnesota,鈥� the order said.
