After days of speculation on who would replace Nick Saban, Washington's Kalen DeBoer has reportedly agreed to a deal to be the next head football coach for the Crimson Tide, according to ESPN.
But who exactly is DeBoer, and what does he bring to Bama's table? Here's what you need to know.
>> FULL SPEECH: DeBoer introduced as Alabama head coach
Coaching History
Sioux Falls:
DeBoer began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater, the University of Sioux Falls, where he worked as the school's offensive coordinator from 2000 to 2004.
Following the retirement of his own former head coach Bob Young, DeBoer took over the program, racking up an impressive 67-3 record.
From 2005 to 2009, DeBoer led the Cougars to three NAIA National Championship wins.
Southern Illinois:
After defeating the Lidenwood Lions in the 2009 NAIA National Championship, DeBoer left Sioux Falls for Southern Illinois, where he worked as the Salukis' offensive coordinator from 2010 to 2013.
The Salukis ranked No. 3 in the nation during the 2011 season, with an average of 183.1 rushing yards per game.
Eastern Michigan:
In 2014, DeBoer moved to Eastern Michigan to be the Eagles' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
The team reached its third-ever bowl game berth in 2016, DeBoer's last season with the program.
Fresno State:
DeBoer moved for yet another offensive coordinator position in 2017 when he began working for Fresno State.
In just two seasons, he helped the Bulldogs reach two division titles, two bowl game victories and the Mountain West Conference Championship in 2018.
Indiana:
In his final offensive coordinator position, DeBoer spent the 2019 college football season with the Indiana Hoosiers.
Return to Fresno State:
In 2020, DeBoer returned to Fresno State to lead the program as the Bulldogs head coach. While his time in California was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, DeBoer made great strides, with the team's defense notably jumping 57 places to No. 31 in the FBS.
Washington:
In November of 2021, DeBoer was hired as head coach at the University of Washington.
In his first season, he led the Huskies to an 11-2 overall record and a victory in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
Not only were 11 wins in 2022 three more than any first-year head coach in UW history had ever compiled, but DeBoer was the first UW football coach ever to win a bowl game in his first season, according to his Washington Athletics bio.
DeBoer was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year for his efforts.
Most recently, Deboer led the Huskies to a 34-31 victory over Oregon in the 2023 Pac-12 Championship, as well as a win over Texas in the CFP Semifinals.
The team was then defeated in the CFP National Championship by the Michigan Wolverines, who ended Nick Saban's final title shot in the Rose Bowl.
