Mispronunciation costs 'Wheel of Fortune' contestant thousands

A 鈥淲heel of Fortune鈥� contestant appeared completely confused after he thought he successfully solved a puzzle on Monday night鈥檚 episode.Contestant Jonny read the completed puzzle 鈥渇lamingo dance lessons,鈥� instead of the correct pronunciation of 鈥渇lamenco dance lessons.鈥� While some of the audience cheered for Jonny, most were silent as they realized his mistake. Jonny had $7,100 in the round before losing it all with that mistake. The next contestant in the lineup, Ashley, correctly read the puzzle, and then host Pat Sajak explained the mistake. 鈥淭o explain, what we all heard was, and I know you didn鈥檛 mean to say it, but you gave a 鈥榞鈥� instead of a 鈥榗,鈥欌� host Pat Sajak explained to the contestant. 鈥淲heel鈥� officials played back the video during a break to make sure they heard Jonny鈥檚 pronunciation correctly. 鈥淚t was unintentional, but you have to kind of go by the rules,鈥� Sajak said.
