Greene鈥檚 decision not to throw her hat into the political ring comes one day after Republican Congressman Earl "Buddy" Carter announced he is running in the primary, which is expected to attract a number of high-profile GOP challengers.
In her social media post, Greene sounded confident about what the outcome would have been had she entered the race.
鈥淓veryone in politics thinks they know what I鈥檒l do. They don鈥檛. Yes, I鈥檓 competitive. Yes, I love to win. And yes, I know I would win both the primary and the general. I鈥檇 enjoy proving the elites wrong every single day. But that鈥檚 not what motivates me,鈥 Greene wrote.
The Ossoff campaign released a statement that read in part: 鈥淪enator Ossoff will defeat any challenger,鈥 following Carter鈥檚 announcement. When asked about Greene鈥檚 decision not to run, the Ossoff campaign鈥檚 communications director said in an email, 鈥淭he campaign does not have a comment at this time.鈥
