Pair of Alabama swimmers look to make their dreams come true at U.S. Olympic trials
For Kailyn Winter, it's the culmination of thousands of laps.
"Oh my gosh, I鈥檓 just like over the moon right now. This is such an exciting time not only for me, but just the team," Winter said.
The clock is ticking, getting closer to the U.S. Olympic trials. It's the second trip for Winter, who at 18, took sixth.
"Just to return to that is something that鈥檚 been really motivating me throughout this season, and it's been something that鈥檚 really like inspired me to keep pushing even when times are hard," Winter said.

At that trials, she got to be around fellow Alabama swimmers Rhyan White and Kensey McMahon.
"Getting to work with them taught me a lot of just what it means to be part of this program and to carry that legacy on,鈥 Winter said.
That legacy continues not just with her, but with Tommy Hagar.
"Growing up it was always, like, a big dream of every swimmer to go to this meet," Hagar said.
Hagar qualified before getting to Tuscaloosa, where he's had a strong freshman season.
"Throughout the year, my teammates have really brought the energy to help the whole team just training alongside everyone at Alabama has really been a big part that鈥檚 really like stepped up my swimming," Hagar said.

He's one of six freshmen from Alabama that qualified for the trials.
"Just seeing the new generation of Alabama swimming and diving stepping up like that is something that鈥檚 really special and really cool. I鈥檓 just so excited for these guys as it's, like, their first time going, and I think it鈥檚 just going to be something that they鈥檙e going to remember forever," Winter said.
Now, this pair looks to make its dreams come true.
"It's everybody's dream to be able to make the Olympics as a swimmer, and I think that would be a really big moment for me and for the team," Hagar said.
While doing it, they'll continue the Alabama legacy set before them.
"Just representing the script A on the nation's stage is just something that I think is one of the most special things you can do as a student-athlete," Winter said.
