Restaurant makes COVID-19 cookbook with 19 recipes that contain Corona beer

An Iowa restaurant is unveiling a new way to beat the COVID-19 pandemic blues, by serving up a special book to help raise funds and awareness. "I love the final product," said Michele Jahncke, co-owner of the Northside Cafe in Winterset, Iowa. "I feel like it's our own baby."Her baby is a new $30 cookbook. With plenty of time on their hands during the shutdown, they decided to try something new. The historic Northside Cafe cookbook contains 19 recipes for COVID-19, all made with Corona beer. The families, kids and all, came up with the recipes, tested them, photographed the food and wrote the instructions. The book also contains some history of the town and how the pandemic affected it. The book not only helps the family, but some profits will be shared with other struggling restaurants. "We have a lot of mouths to feed, with our family, with our staff," Janhcke said. "We know everyone at home has a lot of mouths to feed. So this way they can still be doing that. If you purchase one book and were to make 19 meals you would actually be buying $450 worth of ingredients not counting a case of beer, and so that is stimulating the economy even bigger than just here."
