New numbers are in from the Global Anti-Scam Alliance, showing that we lost more than $1 trillion globally last year. As scam numbers keep rising, Amazon says it’s going after the bad guys to keep you safe too. In its report, Amazon says it’s eliminated more than 40,000 phishing websites and 10,000 phone numbers impersonating Amazon. Because of that, there’s been a 15% decrease in us falling victim to fake Amazon scams.The big one Amazon says to watch out for? Scammers calling you out of the blue saying, “You bought a large purchase, give me your account information in order to verify it.”Amazon says it will not call you out of the blue to verify your purchases. If you’re curious to see if there has been a purchase made on your dime, log into your Amazon account and check out the “Your Orders�� page to see what you’ve bought.
