SEC Baseball Tournament brings thousands of fans, millions of dollars to Hoover
The SEC Baseball Tournament is back again this year in Hoover. It鈥檚 been here for more than 20 years now, and each time seems to get better. The mayor says it's about a $15 million impact here in Hoover, with the SEC coming back to back every year.
鈥淚f ya haven't noticed, we've painted the town SEC,鈥 Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato said.
Thousands showed up this week to experience the SEC tournament here in the city of Hoover. Many of them are waiting to experience 12 incredible baseball teams going against each other.
While the excitement for the tournament is growing, Mayor Brocato is hoping to make this experience as affordable as possible.
鈥淲e've really focused on trying to make the concessions affordable to our families. We want this to be a family experience. Not to come out here and just actually gut, and that's where it starts from,鈥 Brocato said
Now for the SEC tournament this week, hotels seem to be in good standing, but tickets are selling fast. Officials tell me reserved game seating at the Met sold out the first day.
The good news is that there are plenty of general admission tickets available. The RV park is just about full. The mayor tells me if you can take advantage of coming here early, that will help.
