Horse owned by the late Toby Keith to run in Kentucky Derby
"It was Toby鈥檚 dream," a social media post says.
The post came from the late Toby Keith's Instagram account, which says a horse he owned is running in the Kentucky Derby this year.
Keith died last year in February after a battle with stomach cancer.
During his life, he owned an Oklahoma-based Thoroughbred breeding and racing operation called Dream Walkin Farms. According to America's Best Racing, he owned racehorses for two decades.
But before now, he had never had a horse in the Kentucky Derby.
Render Judgment, who will run in Derby 151, is owned by Keith's operation, Baccari Racing Stable LLC, MJM Racing and Rocket Ship Racing.
The horse made it in when .
"He worked so hard to finally have one there! Toby will have the best seat in the house to watch," the post says.
Render Judgment is trained by Kentucky trainer Kenneth McPeek and has the N0. 15 post position for this year's Kentucky Derby. His odds as of Monday are 30-1.
And while this may be Keith's first Derby horse, he was not stranger to Churchill Downs.
