Interactive map shows venues across Central Alabama hosting events for the World Police and Fire Games
More than 8,500 first responders from more than 70 countries will gather in Birmingham for the .
The games kick off on June 27 and will go through July 6. More than 60 sports will be played over the course of 11 days.
The games will include more traditional sports, such as cycling and golf, to unique competitions like the 'ultimate firefighter,' 'toughest competitor alive,' CrossFit, stair climb and dragon boat.
"From wrist wrestling to CrossFit to tennis to pickleball to flag football, basketball, you name it. Cornhole. I mean, it's just the wide gambit," Police and Fire Games organizer Kathy Boswell said.
The opening ceremony will take place at the BJCC Legacy Arena, and the closing ceremony will take place at the City Walk.
Spectators will be able to watch the games, which take place all across Central Alabama.

The goal of the World Police and Fire Games is to celebrate the service and dedication of first responders across the world by uniting them in a wide range of events built on competitiveness and comradery.
Nearly 800 people are still need to pitch in to help make the global event a big success.
"We have a very serve first community and I don't think anybody does it better than we do here, especially in Birmingham and across the state of Alabama. You can't touch us on that," Boswell said.
