While in the Houston area, KOCO-TV Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane met a family that had just been rescued from floodwaters caused by Hurricane Harvey, which is now a tropical storm but continues to drop heavy rains on the region.A woman sitting in the back of a pickup truck with at least three dogs and a cat said she and her family were rescued after three days of waiting for help. The dogs, who were yipping and barking from the anxiety and stress of the situation, were trying to comfort the woman and each other. One of the dogs was pacing back and forth in a cage while the truck the family was using was stopped along the side of a road near The Woodlands, Texas, a city about 35 miles north of Houston.The woman had a message for her family in Maryland.鈥淚 want to tell my family in Maryland I鈥檓 OK. I鈥檓 OK. We鈥檙e out. We鈥檙e out,鈥� she said through tears. 鈥淭hey begged me to leave. They said, 鈥楪et home.鈥� I didn鈥檛 want to leave my dogs. I couldn鈥檛 leave them. They鈥檙e my life.鈥�
