A South Carolina man has filed a lawsuit against Apple after his iPhone exploded in his pocket, which he said caused severe burns to his body.In a lawsuit filed this week, Ronnie Portee, of Sumter, South Carolina, said he underwent five surgeries since the incident, reports The (Columbia, South Carolina) State.In October 2016, Portee ended a phone call and placed the iPhone 6 in his pocket. He then felt “extreme heat,�� according to the lawsuit, burning his flesh and clothing.The explosion caused injuries so severe that he was airlifted to a hospital that has a burn center.“As a result of his iPhone explosion ... (Portee) will continue to suffer both physically and emotionally for the rest of his life,�� according to the suit. “Mr. Portee also has to live with the permanent scarring he suffered.”Portee is seeking damages in excess of $75,000.
