NBC has announced that Tom Llamas will become the new anchor and managing editor of "NBC Nightly News."Llamas will take over the position when current anchor Lester Holt steps down this summer. Llamas is currently a senior national correspondent and anchor of "Top Story with Tom Llamas.""Tom has the winning combination of journalistic excellence, passionate storytelling and unyielding integrity 鈥� all characteristics that have long been trademarks of 鈥楴BC Nightly News,'" NBC News executive vice president of programming Janelle Rodriguez said in a statement. "Additionally, he's been instrumental in growing NBC News NOW into the leading streaming news network, helping to introduce NBC News to a new generation of viewers."It is currently unknown what day Holt's last will be and when Llamas will step in; however, it has been announced that the change will occur sometime this summer. Holt announced that he planned to step down from "NBC Nightly News" after anchoring the show for nearly 15 years. He will stay at NBC and begin working on "Dateline."
