But it turns out he鈥檚 had a change of heart, because he鈥檚 decided to extend his contract through at least 2022, Deadline reports. He has hosted the game show since 1984.Previously, Trebek had said his chances of staying were 鈥�50-50, a little less,鈥� and he suggested either hockey announcer Alex Faust or CNN legal analyst Laura Coates as his replacement. The longtime star, 78, had taken some time off from the show earlier in the year to undergo surgery for blood clots on his brain. Trebek isn't the only beloved game show host to extend his contract, either. "Wheel of Fortune" hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White followed suit, as well. All three work with Sony Pictures Television on their shows. "Jeopardy!" has run for 35 seasons, while "Wheel" has run for 36. Sajak joked about his renewal on Twitter. 鈥淧at, Vanna and Alex are simply the best,鈥� Sony Pictures Television chairman Mike Hopkins said in a statement. 鈥淣ight after night, they seamlessly entertain generations of fans on two of the most beloved television programs on air.
