On Saturday, "Jeopardy" posted a promo for its 35th season, and while people were excited to see the longtime host wasn't retiring, more were absolutely losing it over his facial hair."I’m back for another season of 'Jeopardy!'" Trebek said in the teaser, showing off his full beard. "That, I hope, shouldn’t surprise you. The beard, by now, you’ve all heard of it, so you’re not surprised by that, either."And while Trebek is usually the one telling people they’re wrong, we have to call him out: People weren’t just surprised by his new grooming routine �� they were floored. Overall, the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive and complimentary.All of the online hubbub made it onto the Twitter Moments feature, and bearded men rejoiced, calling it “their time.�� In one reply to a fan’s tweet, the show even deemed 2018 “The Year of the Beard.”As we look back on the lower half of Trebek’s face over the years, this is the most recent, but certainly not the only time, he’s grown out his facial hair. When he first graced the silver screen as the host of "Jeopardy," he sported a thick, Ron Swanson-esque mustache.He continued rocking this look through the '80s and '90s:But in 2001, he debuted his ‘stache-less upper lip: And after a 13-year hiatus, the mustache made a reappearance in 2014, during season 31:“In 2001, I shaved my mustache on a whim,�� he told People in September 2014. “This year I had a two-and-a-half-month period where we were not taping a show, so I grew it back on another whim. I like to keep my life simple.”However, it was short-lived, and the show announced he bid farewell to his facial hair about a month later.
