On Tuesday, officials with the Birmingham Police Department announced that they had obtained warrants for mass shooting suspect Damien McDaniel in the murders of Angeliyah Webster, Christian Norris and the couple鈥檚 unborn child.
Norris and Webster, both 20, were last seen alive on Valentine's Day 2024 as they left a residence in the Ensley area on their way to a movie theater. Two days later, their bodies were found inside their car in the Wylam neighborhood.
According to Mayor Woodfin, one of the victims was his cousin. The discovery of their bodies came the same day as a shooting that left 4 men dead in the Smithfield neighborhood.
"This has been a heartbreaking afternoon for our city," Woodfin said at the time. "A half dozen families are in mourning. That includes the family of one of our city employees. That also includes my own family."
Additionally, McDaniel is being charged in the murder of Reginald Bryant in the fall of 2023. Bryant was found shot to death in the back of a home on Closhire Lane on Nov. 27.
Police said at the time that it appeared Bryant had been targeted and approached by several suspects prior to the shooting, and one or more of the suspects fired shots at the victim.
McDaniel is charged along with Lorenzo Wiley, 30, of Fairfield
Both suspects were already in custody on unrelated charges, being held with no bond.
