WELL, JARVIS, TWO OF THE 14 DEFENDANTS TARGETED IN THIS 28 PAGE INDICTMENT ARE LARRY ROLLINS AND EDDIE JONES. BOTH MEN ARE ACCUSED IN SEPARATE BIRMINGHAM MURDER CASES. MORE ON THAT IN A MINUTE. BUT FIRST, THIS INDICTMENT ACCUSES JONES, ROLLINS AND A DOZEN OTHERS IN A MASSIVE DRUG TRAFFICKING OPERATION. ON TOP OF LAYING OUT THE EVIDENCE BEHIND THE LARGE DRUG OPERATION, THE INDICTMENT SHOWS WHAT HAS BEEN CONFISCATED AND WHICH ITEMS FACE FORFEITURE IN THE CASE. NOW, THE SAME DAY PROSECUTORS UNSEALED THOSE FEDERAL COURT RECORDS, ROLLINS AND JONES WERE IN A JEFFERSON COUNTY COURTROOM THIS MORNING. ROLLINS WAS WAS BEING ARRAIGNED IN THE 20 2024 FATAL ROBBERY OF JAMARCUS MCINTYRE. INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE HE HIRED SOMEONE TO GUN DOWN MCINTYRE LAST SUMMER AFTER SERVING TIME FOR A 1999 KILLING. EDDIE JONES IS ONE OF TWO MEN NOW ACCUSED OF MURDERING BIRMINGHAM FIREFIGHTER JORDAN MELTON. HE鈥橲 ACCUSED OF IDENTIFYING MELTON TO CODEFENDANT DAMIAN MCDANIEL, WHO INVESTIGATORS SAY PULLED THE TRIGGER. Two of the 14 defendants targeted in a new federal drug trafficking indictment are linked to high-profile Birmingham murder suspect Damien McDaniel.Larry Rollins, Eddie Jones and a dozen others are charged in a massive drug operation.On top of laying out the evidence behind the operation to deal cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and marijuana, the indictment shows what has been confiscated and which items face forfeiture in the case.They include nine guns, 52 luxury accessories like Louis Vuitton shoes, boots, beanies and bags, and $54,475 in cash.It also mentions a $1.2 million, 6,168-square-foot Greystone Legacy home that faces forfeiture.The same day prosecutors unsealed those federal court records, Rollins and Jones were in a Jefferson County courtroom, where they faced capital murder charges.Rollins was being arraigned in the 2024 fatal robbery of Jamarcus McIntyre.Investigators believe he hired someone to gun down McIntyre last summer.After serving time for a 1999 killing, Jones is one of two men now accused in the murder of Birmingham firefighter Jordan Melton.He is charged with identifying Melton to co-defendant McDaniel, who investigators say pulled the trigger. Prosecutors say Melton was killed because he was set to testify against Rollins in a different murder.Without Melton's testimony, Rollins was acquitted.Both Rollins and Jones pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday, along with McDaniel, who faces charges in 14 killings.On Tuesday, McDaniel pleaded not guilty in four of those cases, including Melton鈥檚 death. Prosecutors say they plan to first try McDaniel for the quadruple homicide at the Trendsetter's venue last July.Charles Nance did the same for the murder of Anthony Love during the hearing.
