'They deserve to see my tears': Mother of Five Points South mass shooting victim reacts to arrest
Birmingham police have arrested 22-year-old Damien McDaniel for the deaths of six people over three days, including the mass shooting at Five Points South that left four dead, 17 injured and dozens of families impacted.
"They don't know me, I don't know them, but they deserve to see my tears.... they deserve to see me fight for Anitra," said Candance Kemp, whose daughter Anitra Holloman was one of the victims who lost their lives.
Kemp received a call from detectives yesterday informing her of McDaniel's arrest.
"Last night was the first night I even got some sleep, but every time I try to think, .. my baby's lifeless body on the ground," Kemp said.
McDaniel has been charged with capital murder of two or more persons and 17 counts of first-degree assault for those injured.
Investigators initially indicated it was a targeted hit.
"Whatever the intended situation was.... that was selfish, careless, reckless, dumb," said Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr, noting that the charges could make McDaniel eligible for the death penalty.

Kemp, however, does not want the death penalty for McDaniel.
"Death is going to come too easy. They expected to die on the street..... it's gonna be a lot different," she said.
Kemp also mentioned that she is praying for McDaniel despite everything.
She has set up a page to help pay for funeral expenses and provide for Anitra's young child.
