Teen paralyzed while playing football meets Coach Saban ahead of going to Iron Bowl
BOWL. JALEN MILROE FROM BENCHED TO THE NEXT GREAT ALABAMA QUARTERBACK. IT鈥橲 BEEN A WILD SEASON FOR NUMBER FOUR. YEAH. SPORTS DIRECTOR RYAN HENNESSY BACK WITH US AGAIN FROM TUSCALOOSA. AND RYAN SINCE GETTING HIS STARTING JOB BACK, MILROE HAS REALLY BEEN A STAR FOR. YEAH, LIKE YOU GUYS SAY, CLIMBING UP THE HEISMAN RANKS AS WELL. NOT SURE HE鈥橪L BE IN NEW YORK, BUT WHAT A YEAR IT鈥橲 BEEN IN THE BACK HALF FOR JALEN MILROE. I TALKED TO HIM EVERY MONDAY AT THE WEEKLY PRESS CONFERENCE. ALWAYS EXCITED, ALWAYS HAVING FUN WITH THE MEDIA. THESE THIS WEEK WAS A LOT DIFFERENT. SERIOUS BECAUSE THE NEXT TWO WEEKS ARE A NEW SEASON AND HE CAN REALLY IMPRESS. AND IT ALL STARTS WITH HIS DEBUT AS A STARTER FOR THE IRON BOWL. YEAH, NO MATTER WHERE IT STATE YOU鈥橰E FROM, YOU DO KNOW ABOUT THE IRON BOWL. YOU KNOW, BEING FROM TEXAS, I KNOW ABOUT THE IRON BOWL FOR SURE. YOU KNOW, I GREW UP WATCHING IT. A QUARTERBACK FROM KATY, TEXAS, MAKING HIS IRON BOWL DEBUT AS A STARTER. THE RIVALRY IS UNDERSTOOD FOR NUMBER FOUR IN CRIMSON. I HAVE BEEN PREPARING FOR AUBURN AND I DO SEE A GRITTY TEAM AND I SEE A TEAM THAT鈥橲 GOING TO GIVE US THEIR ALL TO PLAY QUARTERBACK FOR THE CRIMSON TIDE IN THE IRON BOWL IS AN HONOR, BUT TO GO ON THE ROAD IN JORDAN-HARE STADIUM IS A CHALLENGE FOR SOME QUARTERBACKS. FOR THE CRIMSON TIDE THAT LEAVE DISAPPOINTED. BUT TO BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE IRON BOWL IS GOING TO BE A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR SURE, ESPECIALLY GOING ON THE ROAD TO AUBURN. SO IT鈥橲 GOING TO BE A DEFINITELY A BIG CHALLENGE FOR US. ONE POSITIVE MILROE HAS A DEFENSE WHO IS DOMINANT THIS SEASON BEHIND HIM, LED BY KEVIN VAN STEELE, WHO RETURNS TO THE PLAINS, A PLACE THAT HE KNOWS WELL, SPENDING THE 2016 TO 2020 SEASON AS THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. WELL, I鈥橪L SAY THIS BEFORE YOU EVEN TOUCH THE FIELD, YOU GOT TO BE READY TO GO BECAUSE OUR DEFENSE IS GOING TO BRING IT. GO. HERE鈥橲 THE TALE OF THE TAPE SO FAR BETWEEN THE TWO QUARTERBACKS. AUBURN QUARTERBACK PAYTON THORNE, ALABAMA QUARTERBACK JALEN MILROE. TWO WERE CLOSE IN THEIR COMPLETION PERCENTAGE, BUT MILROE LEADING THE WAY IN ALMOST EVERY STAT LINE. SO JALEN MILROE LIKE YOU SAID, BENCHED EARLY ON THE SEASON, SOMETHING HAPPENED IN THAT LSU GAME. IT鈥橲 LIKE HE GOT THE GREEN LIGHT OUT DOING JAYDEN DANIELS AND HE鈥橲 GOING TO NEED THAT GREEN LIGHT GOING FORWARD BECAUSE HE鈥橲 GOT AUBURN AND THEN THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS, IF THEY HAVE ANY SHOT,

It's an adventure a 16-year-old Bama fan from Minnesota will never forget.

Ethan Glynn's heart jumped when he rolled into the Crimson Tide athletic facility this week, and when his role model 鈥 coach Nick Saban himself 鈥 walked up to him and put his hand on his shoulder, Ethan's heart jumped some more.

Ethan Glynn loved the way the Crimson Tide handled defeat.

He was only 6 years old, but he watched the class Coach Saban and his players showed after the 2013 Iron Bowl loss.

Way up in Bloomington, Minnesota, right after the Kick Six, an Alabama football fan was born.

It was 14 months ago when Ethan was paralyzed from the shoulders down while playing in a high school football game in Minnesota.

I began writing about Ethan, and my stories grabbed the attention of Kerry Goode, who has been fighting ALS for eight years.

Yesterday, Goode and his wife Tanja welcomed Ethan and his family to Tuscaloosa, where they toured the athletic facility, met coach Saban and several players, and went to see the "Hey, Coach" radio show.

The Glynns toured the stadium and will attend the game as special guests of Kerry and Tanja.
