A great college football town.
A 3-point game deep in the fourth quarter.
A tornado warning that would not stand in the way of an instant classic.
We're talking, of course, about the 1983 Iron Bowl, a game that kicked off under sunny skies but ended in a downpour of biblical proportions.

Jack Crowe was the Tigers' offensive coordinator, he remembers just how insane that moment was.
"I heard Simpson Pepper, he was the PA announcer. I asked Larry Blankley who was up top ... I said, 'Larry, did he just say what I thought he said? Isn't that a warning?'... Excited I looked at those stands, and nobody moved a foot," said Crowe.
With four minutes left in the fourth and rain coming down in sheets, the soggy battle rage on, the field so soaked that the sidelines began to flood.
"I'm sure I'm not the only one that took pause and just really questioned, what are we doing?" said Crowe.
Not only did the game mark newly appointed Alabama head coach Ray Perkins' first taste of the Tigers and Auburn head coach Pat Dye's second consecutive Iron Bowl win, it was also the game that solidified Bo Jackson as a living legend.
"From that game forward, he was a myth and dealing in the reality of that game plan was we are building a myth here," said Crowe
The Tigers and the Tide hit the field once again this Saturday for the 88th edition of the Iron Bowl.
