IMPACT DAYS AS WE HEAD INTO THE END OF THE WEEK AND EVEN INTO THE WEEKEND, WE鈥橵E GOT SOME CHANGES THAT WE DO WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT. BUT FIRST, WARNING IMPACT DAY FOR NOT ONLY THURSDAY, BUT FRIDAY AS WELL. THE CHANCE FOR RAIN AND STORMS IS HIGH. BOTH OF THOSE DAYS, AND THEN ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHANGES IS GOING TO BE OUR FORECAST HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND. ON SATURDAY. WE鈥橰E GOING TO INCLUDE SOME LINGERING SHOWERS, CERTAINLY SOME CLOUDS AROUND, MAYBE EVEN A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. AS IT LOOKS LIKE THIS STORM SYSTEM HAS KIND OF SLOWED DOWN A LITTLE BIT. SO WE鈥橰E GOING TO CONTINUE TO KEEP IN AT LEAST THE CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS ON SATURDAY AS WELL. AND YOU鈥橰E GOING TO HEAR FIRST WARNING A LOT. IT鈥橲 OUR NEW WEATHER BRAND. IT鈥橲 OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU WHENEVER WE SEE SOME PRETTY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES, WE ARE GOING TO PASS THOSE ALONG TO YOU FIRST. IMMEDIATELY AND EVERY FORECAST SO THAT YOU CAN ALWAYS PREPARE FOR NOT ONLY JUST SEVERE WEATHER, BUT ALSO AS YOU MAKE YOUR PLANS FOR WHAT鈥橲 AHEAD FOR THE DAY OR FOR THE THE UPCOMING WEEKEND, WHERE WE DO HAVE SOME CHANGES AND THIS IS A CHANGE TO THAT CAME DOWN EARLIER THIS MORNING. THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS NOW INCLUDED NORTHWEST ALABAMA IN A LEVEL TWO OUT OF FIVE. SO THAT IS A SLIGHT RISK TO SEE A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN THAT CORNER OF THE STATE. INGREDIENTS LOOK TO BE A LITTLE MORE FAVORABLE UP NEAR HAMILTON AND HACKLEBURG AND CROSSVILLE AS THOSE STORMS INITIALLY COME INTO THE STATE AROUND 2 OR 3:00 TOMORROW AFTERNOON. SO AGAIN, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY IT WILL NOT RAIN ALL DAY, BUT IT WILL BE STORMY AT TIMES. BEST COVERAGE WILL COME IN DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS. AND THEN, AS I MENTIONED, THAT OTHER CHANGE IS THIS WEEKEND. ON SATURDAY WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO INCLUDE AT LEAST A FEW SHOWERS ON SATURDAY, MAYBE A RUMBLE OF THUNDER OR TWO. RIGHT NOW WE鈥橪L GO WITH ABOUT A 40% CHANCE, BUT THAT MAY CHANGE IF THE STORM SYSTEM CAN GET OUT OF HERE SOONER, THEN WE鈥橪L DROP THOSE RAIN CHANCES. IF IT LOOKS LIKE IT鈥橲 GOING TO BE A LITTLE MORE DELAYED, WE MAY HAVE TO UP THOSE A BIT, BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS SUNDAY STILL LOOKS DRY AND LESS HUMID. SARAH. ALL RIGHT, TAKING A LOOK AT YOUR TRAFFIC HE

Senate Bill 330 recently passed in the state's upper chamber and is now in the Alabama House of Representatives awaiting a vote. Should it pass, its effects would cause the Birmingham Water Works board to undergo a massive restructuring. The city of Birmingham has six out of the nine appointments on the water board; the bill would reduce the number by more than half. It would also give appointing powers to elected officials, which is something that's typically not done. The bill also proposes a new branding of the Birmingham Water Works Board into a regional board.鈥淚 just want to be sure that everyone understands the cost that would occur by rebranding that board into a regional board,鈥 said Wardine Alexander, District 7 council member.Editor's Note (April 30) - An original version of this story stated that the bill would change the public's role during meetings. The bill does not state this; the Birmingham Water Works Board is discussing changes to how the public comment process could work moving forward.
