Air gun athletes take aim for Paris 2024 Olympics
After a weekend filled with competition in Anniston, five athletes have secured their spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
One of them is returning Olympian Alexis Lagan.
She's one of two women air pistol athletes who earned their spot in the Olympics during Team USA's air gun trials held at the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
Lagan said she's relieved to have achieved her goal and is excited for Paris, but as she explains, the work is just beginning.
"We still actually have another trial for Women's Sport Pistol, which is later on in March," Lagan said. "So I'll probably do a little bit of different training between now and then, and then after March is for pursuing Paris."

Lagan said she feels grateful following Sunday's competition.
She thanked her family, friends and fellow athletes for helping her get to this point, saying they provided the support network she needed to prepare for the Olympics.
Another competitor showing gratitude for his support system is Ivan Roe.
The air rifle athlete punched his ticket to Paris this weekend, while his father, Ed, cheered him on.
"I'm glad that I was able to actually accomplish this while everyone is still around," Roe said. "My grandma and grandpa would definitely be very proud if they're still here too."

Roe's father calls this sport a family affair, saying his relatives have cheered his son on through the years of practices and competitions.
"It's a long road, but in the end, it's worth it to see the final outcome," Roe said.
