Olympic trials in marksmanship are being held in Anniston, Alabama.

PODIUM IS ALREADY GROWING 201 DAYS. THIS YEAR, THE STATE OF ALABAMA IS HOME TO TWO SETS OF OLYMPIC TRIALS, ONE THIS APRIL IN MONTGOMERY AND ONE IS HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND IN ANNISTON. YEAH, PRACTICE ROUNDS HAVE BEEN GOING ON THROUGH THE WEEK LEADING UP TO TOMORROW WHEN ATHLETES WILL GIVE IT THEIR ALL FOR A SHOT AT MAKING TEAM USA. WE鈥橵E. TEAM THIRTEEN鈥橲 EMMA OWENS SPOKE WITH SOME OF THEM TODAY. ATHLETES HAVE BEEN HARD AT WORK TODAY, HOPING TO SECURE THEIR SPOT IN THE PARIS 2024 GAMES AFTER JUST ONE MORE DAY OF COMPETITION TOMORROW, THE OLYMPIC AIR RIFLE AND AIR PISTOL TEAM WILL BE CHOSEN. THIS IS THE THIRD ROUND OF USA SHOOTING鈥橲 AIRGUN OLYMPIC TRIALS. THE CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM IN ANNISTON PLAYING HOST TO DOZENS OF ATHLETES HOPING TO GET THEIR SHOT IN THE OLYMPIC GAMES. HAVING THREE ROUNDS OF TRIALS HAS REALLY HELPED ME FIGURE OUT WHAT CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE AND WHAT THINGS I NEED TO BE TRAINING, SO IT鈥橲 MAKING ME A BETTER ATHLETE ALONG THE WAY. LISA EMMERT IS ONE OF DOZENS OF COMPETITORS HOPING TO MAKE THE CUT. SHE GOT HER START AS A JUNIOR SHOOTER IN AMERICAN BULLSEYE, BUT LATER TRANSITIONED TO AIR PISTOL BEFORE MAKING THE USA SHOOTING TEAM. AND THIS ISN鈥橳 THE ONLY WAY SHE鈥橲 REPRESENTING OUR COUNTRY. WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE, I DECIDED TO JOIN THE MILITARY. I ENLISTED FIRST, AND THEN I WENT ROTC, WHICH IS OFFICER. SO NOW I鈥橫 IN THE COLORADO NATIONAL GUARD AT THE CTS CENTENNIAL TRAINING SITE UNIT, UM, WHERE WE ACTUALLY OVERSEE MARKSMANSHIP TRAINING IN THE STATES, JOINING TRACY IN THE PURSUIT OF PARIS AIR PISTOL ATHLETE MARY TUCKER, THE OLYMPIAN HOPING TO MAKE A RETURN TO THE GAMES AFTER COMPETING IN TOKYO 2020. SHE DESCRIBES HOW THIS TIME AROUND COMPARES TO THE LAST. I HAD ONLY BEEN SHOOTING FOR LIKE THREE YEARS AND I WAS STILL PRETTY YOUNG, SO I DIDN鈥橳 HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE, AND I KIND OF WAS JUST NOT EXPECTING TO MAKE THE TEAM. UM, WHEREAS NOW OBVIOUSLY I WOULD BE A REPEAT. TUCKER SAYS. WHILE THERE IS A PRESSURE AS A RETURNING OLYMPIAN, SHE鈥橲 TRYING TO FOCUS ON THE JOY THE SPORT BRINGS HER. Olympic trials in marksmanship are being held in Anniston, Alabama.

Among the athletes competing to be a part of the Olympic air rifle and pistol team this weekend is Mary Tucker, Tokyo 2020 Olympian and Pan American Games medalist.As she sets her sights on Paris, the air rifle athlete said these games are different compared to Tokyo.Since the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the 2020 games, these athletes have had three years to train, rather than the normal four.Because of this, Tucker said she hit the ground running, taking few breaks in hopes of competing at the global level once again.But as this weekend's trials approached, she said she switched up her routine a bit, which has helped reignite her love for the sport.>> AHEAD OF THE OLYMPICS: Olympic Air Gun Trials to be held in Anniston"I've been training differently, had a coaching change, and it's actually been super productive, and I'm not training quite as much, but I'm learning to enjoy the sport more," Tucker said.She said this break has given her a chance to reflect on how air rifle has impacted her life."Recently, I've been able to kind of take a step back and just realize all the countries that I've been to and all the friends that I've made from this sport," Tucker said.Joining Tucker in the pursuit for Paris is Lisa Emmert Traciak.She got her start as a junior shooter in American Bullseye, but later transitioned to air pistol before making the USA shooting team.It's just one of several ways she's representing our country."When I was in college, I decided to join the military," Traciak said.
