Samford men's tennis to face Florida State in first round of NCAA tournament
The matchup is set for the Samford men's tennis team.
It was announced on Monday that Samford will take on Florida State in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Bulldogs are in the Columbia regional and will take on the Seminoles Friday, May 2.
"These guys will never forget today. The one thing we wanted for these guys is to be able to create some stories, create some memories, have some opportunities for them to be able to just look back on this year and be able to feel like they gave everything they got. They were able to conquer quite a bit," Samford head coach Oliver Reynolds said.
It's been a season to remember for Samford, winning the Southern Conference tournament and a share of the regular season title.
"They're going to go into this tournament playing without any pressure and I mean that's something for them. We got some darn good players on this team so, if they can show up and play well I wouldn't want to be on the other side of it," Reynolds said.
This marks the first NCAA tournament appearance since 2013 for the team, but they have no plans on stopping here.
"Just the message to watch out for us. Lot of people don't know about Samford, but we'll make sure our name pops up on the screen every year from now on," Sandeep Mohandoss said.
Samford's first round matchup with Florida State is set for Friday, May 2 in Columbia, S.C., a match start time is TBD.
