TWO PEOPLE HURT IN THIS WEEK鈥橲 DEADLY BOAT CRASH ON SMITH LAKE ARE NOW THINKING ABOUT TAKING LEGAL ACTION. THREE PEOPLE WERE KILLED WHEN THE CRASH HAPPENED EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE LEGAL TEAM REPRESENTING THE INJURED VICTIMS SAY THEY鈥橰E WORKING TO PRESERVE EVIDENCE, AND COLLECT AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE. THE TWO MOST APPARENT FACTORS THEY NOTED WERE SPEED, AND NOT PAYING ENOUGH ATTENTION WHILE OPERATING A BOAT. NO WORD ON *WHO* THEY鈥橰E TAKING ACTION AGAINST, BUT THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED SEVERAL POSSIBLE DEFENDANTS INCLUDING THE MAJOR LEAGUE FISHING ORGANIZATION, AND THE PERSON OPERATING THE BOAT THAT HIT THEIR CLIENTS.

Two of the surviving victims of the deadly boat crash on Smith Lake are considering legal action. On Wednesday, April 16, three people were killed and three others were injured when two boats collided on Smith Lake during the Major League Fishing Tackle Warehouse Invitational Tournament. Joey M. Broom, 58, of Altoona, John K. Clark, 44, of Cullman, and Jeffrey C. Little, 62, of Brandon, Mississippi, were all killed when the Center Console boat they were on was struck by a Nitro Bass Boat. Two other men on board the Center Console vessel, Gary W. Holcomb, 51, of Cullman, and Luke H. Morgan, 30, of Albertville, were injured in the crash and transported to UAB Hospital.Major League fisherman Flint Davis, 22, of Leesburg, Georgia, who was the operator of the Nitro Bass Boat, was also injured and transported to Cullman Regional Hospital.In the days following the crash, two of the men injured, Holcomb and Morgan, retained legal representation from the law firm Farris, Riley & Pitt. According to a statement from attorney Ken Riley, the law firm is working with state and local law enforcement to investigate the crash. 鈥淎s our clients recover, we will leverage every resource possible to hold those responsible for this needless, avoidable disaster accountable and ensure that a tragedy like this is prevented in the future.鈥漅iley did not specifically say who they were planning to target with their legal action, but in a written response to 米兰体育 13鈥檚 Aryon Lewallen, the legal team indicated that there could be several people involved in the potential lawsuit. 鈥淲e have several potential defendants鈥搑anging from the operator of the vessel that struck our clients to potentially the Major League Fishing organization鈥揳nd we will focus our efforts as our investigation unfolds."Officials have not released a cause for the boat crash. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency鈥檚 Marine Patrol Division is leading the investigation.
