I鈥橫 SHERI FALK. I鈥橫 GUY RAWLINGS. FOR THE LAST SEVEN YEARS, WHAT WAS ONCE A MAJOR STAPLE AT BROOKWOOD VILLAGE HAS SAT EMPTY. THE BELK DEPARTMENT STORE THAT ONCE CALLED ONE OF THE ANCHOR SPOTS OF THE SHOPPING MALL HOME HAS BEEN CLOSED ALL THAT TIME. IT鈥橲 WHY HOMEWOOD OFFICIALS ARE NOW PROPOSING A NEW SPACE TO GIVE IT NEW LIFE. 米兰体育 13 S BRYCE OSELEN ATTENDED A PUBLIC HEARING TONIGHT TO SHARE THESE IDEAS WITH RESIDENTS. BRYCE, WHAT DO THEY WANT TO PUT IN THAT SPACE AND HOW ARE RESIDENTS FEELING ABOUT IT? YEAH. GUY. SHERRI, THE PLAN IS TO TURN THE OLD BUILDING INTO A MEDICAL CENTER. RESIDENTS I SPOKE WITH SAY THEY鈥橠 LIKE TO SEE THE CITY EXPLORE OTHER OPTIONS BEFORE MOVING FORWARD. ALL IN FAVOR, SAY AYE. AYE. ANY OPPOSED? BUT NOT EVERYONE AGREES WITH THE VOTE. ALSO ASKING FOR A ADVISORY GROUP BE FORMED TO PROVIDE OVERSIGHT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS. RESIDENTS ATTENDING THE HEARING SAY THEY WOULD LIKE AN INPUT ON WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BUILDING. WE DESERVE BETTER. I KNOW WE DESERVE BETTER BECAUSE WE ARE BETTER AND WE ALL CAN HAVE BETTER IF WE CONTINUE TO COMMUNICATE AND WORK TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY. THE DEVELOPERS OF THE PROPERTY COULDN鈥橳 BE REACHED FOR A COMMENT AT THIS TIME. LI
