Carlee Russell facing misdemeanor charges after lying to law enforcement

Carlee Russell is facing two misdemeanor charges Friday after lying to police about being kidnapped and seeing a child along the side of I-459 in Hoover.
Warrants were put out for Carlee Russell for false reporting to law enforcement authorities and falsely reporting an incident. Carlee Russell turned herself in to the Hoover City Jail and was released from jail after posting bond Friday.

Each charge is a class A misdemeanor and carries up to a year in jail.
"Actions can have consequences and that's why we're here today," Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said.
Officials said they are looking into additional charges and they still do not know where Carlee Russell was during the 49 hours of the search.
