Pelham woman convicted of sodomy, sexual torture of a minor
A Pelham woman will join her husband behind bars for the sexual torture of a minor, among other charges.
Michelle Ratliff, 49, pleaded guilty Monday to sexual torture by force, first-degree sodomy and distribution of drugs to a minor.
She received a 26-year-long prison sentence and will be ineligible for good time, meaning she cannot be released before the entire sentence has been served.
鈥淐rimes such as this are a stain on our community and if you commit crimes like this in Shelby County, my office will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law,鈥� said District Attorney Matt Casey. 鈥淲e are thankful for the victim鈥檚 courage in this instance in coming forward."
Ratliff's husband and co-defendant, 37-year-old Edwin Ratliff, was imprisoned in April, having received the same sentence.

He was convicted of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, sexual torture, producing obscene materials of a person under 17, enticing a child for an immoral purpose and other unnamed Class A felonies.
